Studies have proven that the first 5 years of life are the most important years. Children’s lives are shaped forever during this time. (Note: This is a "blog" - feel free to read the article and comment, ask questions, etc.)
The NORTHWEST CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTERS are dedicated to maximize the growth and development
of all children enrolled. We also recognize that the child’s family is a major factor in this process.
Therefore, we have committed this section of our Web Site to help strengthen families.
Children do not come with instructions of how to raise them. Parents do not always have the support, resources or knowledge to do this and may have to “learn as they go”.
Parents may also lack the resilience to deal with today’s stresses, or lack a knowledge of community resources.
A child’s ability to interact with others, to self-regulate, and to effectively communicate his or her emotions has
a great impact on the parent-child relationship.
This section of our Web Site will attempt to link school, family and the community together to reach the goal of
strengthening families for the maximum growth and development of all children, not only those enrolled in
our programs, but also the community at large. Please join us in this effort. We would like your feedback, suggestions and ideas as to how we can "put it all together" for today's families and their children. We have some ideas of our own that we will be putting on our Web Site including family resources, community services, child services and things to do-places to go for family fun. We also hope to extend family budgets by offering "discounts" and other "savings" for you to take advantage of (See "Sponsor A Star" advertisers).

Providers of services, etc. can feel free to contact us to see how you can become involved. email us at info@northwestchilddevelopment.com.

Don't pick on picky eaters. If you have an infant who has recently started eating fruits and vegetables, you may be surprised when he one day decides that he no longer likes baby green beans and refuses to open his mouth. Children of any age can be picky. Sometimes it takes days and days of presenting the same food to a child and having him try it before he gets used to it. You do not need to force your child to eat, especially if he is healthy and eating some variety of foods, even if it’s only fruit, cereal, and milk. However, you should discuss this with your pediatrician if you are worried. Sometimes it takes days and days of presenting the same food to a child and having him try it before he gets used to it. Do not use dessert or even another food your child likes as a bribe.
